But throughout the war he wrote about it in his poems, and about remembering the souls who were lost. Although his brother was lost in the war which hit him very hard as a reality check, but he made it through the war, and lived a happy life after.
And he also talks about how people who have gone mad from the war, and how they will not be judged because they fought for their country. He seems to feel quite strongly about these ideas and expresses them with repetition, which lets the reader know that these ideas are important, as he has repeated it more than once to drill it into the readers head.
And to tell the reader that those who fought in the war were heros and they will always be scarred from their experience in the war, but never ever judged. The author expressed these ideas, by using lots of language features, the most obvious one being rhetorical question, as the author asks you what you think, without expecting or intending an answer.
These ideas are truthful because the writer is very realistic about the ideas and messages he is trying to get across. And his type of writing is very truthful and straight to the point. For example how he talks about the soldiers who have lost so much, but they are still alive? These ideas are relevant to this day because when this generation reads back on this poem and others like it, they learn to appreciate there lives as it is something very special you have been given, and not to just take it for granted and through it around carelessly, but to appreciate it and be thankful for what you have, even if on some days it feels like nothing, you realise that you could have ended up much worse.
The most obvious language feature used is rhetorical question. The tone of this poem seems a bit blunt and harsh, as though the authors trying to shove the message into your head by using capital letters and of course the rhetorical questions.
The vocabulary choice for the poem seems quite blatant, but the author uses assonance and repeats vowels and also uses rhyme to make the words sound similar and rhyme. The structure of this poem is in three stanzas which is also split into three paragraphs. The author in this poem does not seem to use much symbolism, but does quite descriptive describing of what he wants the reader to imagine the setting or places throughout the poem like.
